HOLLYWOOD NIGHTS AND DAYS.

Talking to the Villager's Judith Edwards, make-up artist to the stars Chrissie Webster has the inside track on the lives of celebrities and how they acheive their glamorous looks.

Ever wondered how the celebrities in Hello! and OK! magazines look so good, even when they may have recently had a baby, or finished a gruelling film run or just stepped off the red-eye? The secret, says Chrissie Webster, who has close to 3 decades experience as a film and TV make-up artist, is that they, generally, have there own stylist.

At her new Egham studio, Serendipity, Chrissie said "Robbie's my favourite".  And she really does mean Robbie. "I have a  soft spot for him." she confessed, "After we worked together on Top of the Pops" And then Chrissie mentioned in passing Celeine Dion, Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey.

With the opening of her Serendipity Studio in April we can all have a little bit of the Hollywood treatment. The creation of a studio, as opposed to a salon, is a strategic decision, and just weeks after opening Chrissie took on assistant Natalie to work alongside. Chrissie said, "I don't believe there is anything like this studio anywhere."

With a Royal College of Nursing certificate in skin camouflage and a finalist in the Incorporated Guild of Hairdressers, Wigmakers and perfumers, Chrisse has the skills, and the equipment, to transform anyone into what they want to be, whether  that is simply  glamorous for a day at Ascot, an evening event, or a photo shoot, or as a gangster or ghoul for a fancy dress, or even host a group make-up session for girls who like to prom.

As a self-confessed hoarder, Chrissie's studion is chock full of TV  and film paraphernalia with walls punctuated with photos of stars [Brad Pitt, David Hasselhoff  and  David Cassidy] and shelves interspersed with decades of on-set memorabilia.

It is a great place to hang out and chat about people you generally only see in 2-D.

For an everyday look costing from £40 and a full high-glam effect at around £60 plus hairstyling at £45, you can, for under £100 step out looking like a true film star. With more time and planning, the package could include a St Tropez tan, Bio Sculpture nails and eyelashes.

Chrissie said "I really enjoy being here and I love what I do with a passion. I knew when it was time the film and TV industry and this business is an ambition fulfilled. The stars are just like you and me, some have lucky breaks but everyone deserves to be treated like a celebrity every now and then.
